Government Proposes Longer Prison Terms Despite Advisory Warnings

The Government proposes that conditional release should take place at the earliest after three-quarters of the sentence have been served. The purpose of the proposal is to sharpen society's view on serious crime, says Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (The Moderate Party). An inquiry has nonetheless advised against changing the current two-thirds release.
