Eighth persons were injured when the tram for unknown reason, at high speed, drove past a stop and derailed at the intersection Vasagatan–Kungsportsavenyn.
The tram then continued straight into a street kitchen.
”A further number of persons were very close to being injured by the derailed tram", writes the Statens haverikommission in a press release.
The Accident Commission visited the accident site during the midsummer weekend and has now decided to investigate the accident, reports Göteborgs-Posten.
The Commission considers that the investigation, in addition to clarifying the course of events, can provide safety gains for rail traffic in the future.
The investigation is expected to take about one year.
