The 30-year-old is a newcomer to politics and has been a member of V for just over a year.
He was in ninth place on the Dalarna Riksdag list, but received 648 personal votes, thus pushing aside V's climate policy spokesperson Kajsa Fredholm, who is losing her seat.
Mohamed Abdukardir Ali says that he did not have his own campaign or election materials.
“Not really sure”
V's group leader in Borlänge, Matts Hammarqvist, tells Expressen that Ali hasn't been active for a long time, and that he "actually doesn't really know who it is."
He later backtracks on that statement in a comment to TV4 Nyheterna.
I know who it is, but it's not someone I know personally or have had dealings with, Hammarqvist tells the channel.
There are many who know him in the party.
Amanda Dalmans, district chairwoman for V in Dalarna, also tells SVT News that Ali is "absolutely not" unknown in the party.
I look forward to working with him,” says Dalmans.
Mohamed Abdukardir Ali was denied Swedish citizenship two years ago. According to Expressen, he did not meet the requirement of an honest lifestyle and the reason was his debts to the Swedish Enforcement Authority. These included unpaid taxes, student loans and private loans.
Ali writes to Expressen that debt restructuring is currently underway and that he will do what is right for him.
Participated in the election campaign
The Left Party's chairman in Borlänge, Erik Buller, writes to Expressen that Ali participated in the election campaign.
"I have no reason to believe that he will not be an excellent representative for us in parliament," writes Buller.
