The Swedish Public Employment Service's efforts to guide people with disabilities to work are not effective. Some people are left without any support at all, according to the National Audit Office.

The review conducted by the National Audit Office shows that the Swedish Public Employment Service's processing times are long. Every tenth person has to wait for over three years to have their disability identified.

But of those who have had their disability investigated, half still lack a permanent measure.

"The lack of goal achievement is remarkable", comments Auditor General Christina Gellerbrant Hagberg in a press release.

The National Audit Office assesses that the Swedish Public Employment Service has not utilized its resources effectively, and that repeated reorganizations have contributed to this. The approach that assumes the job seeker is able to drive their case themselves also creates problems.
