It is very important for the Left Party to be the largest party after the Social Democrats in that constellation. It gives them a good negotiating position.
Shockwave in SD
Based on the polling station survey, everything indicates that the Liberals will pass the parliamentary threshold of four percent. At the same time, it looks like the Moderates will regain their place as the largest opposition party as the Sweden Democrats retreat.
It was unexpected and it was a very big decline. We haven't seen that in previous polls. It's probably a shockwave going through the Sweden Democrats right now. They hadn't expected that.
For M, this is a "happy announcement in defeat," says Möller, referring to the fact that they appear to be losing government power.
Best with a fire pit
During the 2022 parliamentary election, the government alternatives were very evenly matched in the polling station survey. S, MP, V and C then received 49.8 percent, only 0.6 percentage points more than M, KD, L and SD who received 49.2 percent.
Political scientist Henrik Ekengren Oscarsson comments on the difference for SVT:
Back then it was so close that we had no chance, but here we have a block difference of 4.5 percentage points. That's a lot.
