S leader Magdalena Andersson has been tasked by the Speaker with seeking support for a new government. But what it will look like is unclear.
None of the former opposition parties want to speak publicly about any meetings that may be held this week.
The gap between the Center Party and the Left Party still appears to be large. This became clear on Friday when the two party leaders, Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist (C) and Nooshi Dadgostar (V), visited the Speaker.
Since the purpose of the meeting is to negotiate a government, there is no point in going to that meeting because we believe that we cannot sit in government with the Left Party, said Thand Ringqvist.
According to a V source familiar with the matter, the party leaders have not yet met. Nor have there been any joint government talks at any level with C.
The Center Party's press service says only that C is in ongoing talks with several parties, but does not want to go into any further details.
The Left Party does not intend to back down from its demand for ministerial posts, deputy party leader Ida Gabrielsson insisted on SVT's Agenda on Sunday. It could lead to new elections, but then she would blame the Center Party.
"We will stand our ground, absolutely. We have received great support from voters and have made the most progress," she said.
