Swedish Emissions Surge in 2024, Challenging Climate Goals

Emissions of greenhouse gases in Sweden increased significantly in 2024 – by 7 percent compared to the previous year, shows preliminary statistics from the Environmental Protection Agency. The reduction of the reduction obligation is considered to have led to the increase, which is the largest since 2010. It will be more difficult to achieve our climate goals within the EU, says Roger Sedin, at the Environmental Protection Agency.
