The 18-year-old is now in custody on suspicion of one murder and three attempted murders. The 16-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of being an accessory to those crimes.

A 17-year-old girl was killed and three boys were injured in the attack, two of them seriously.

"The district court's decision today means that both people are now in custody on suspicion of crimes linked to the deceased victim and the three victims who were injured in connection with the incident at Brinell School in Fagersta on August 21. Intensive work is underway, including holding hearings, conducting technical examinations and analysing material," says senior prosecutor Ann-Sofie Trossing in a press release.

The 18-year-old participated in the detention hearing via video link, according to VLT .

He admits that there are probable grounds for arrest on the murder charge, but disputes that on the attempted murder charges, says Anes Sabic, lawyer to SVT Nyheter Västmanland.

At the same time, the number of plaintiffs, victims and relatives has increased from the previous 12 to 21, documents from the district court show.
