Politicians are allowed to wear "decent jeans" in the chamber. This is clear after the parliament clarified its dress code, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

In the parliament's plenary session, the dress code "odd jacket" applies, a less formal style that simply means that jacket and trousers for men do not have to be in the same fabric or color.

But according to the Speaker's press secretary Pernilla Eldblom, some members have found it difficult to understand which garments are allowed - and now the dress code is being clarified.

"For both men and women, decent jeans can be worn", it says, among other things.

What "decent jeans" means is not defined - but it is up to each politician to decide, according to Pernilla Eldblom.

"If a serving Speaker considers that a member's clothes contravene the dress code, the member would be discreetly notified of this by, for example, the serving chamber secretary", she writes to GP.
