Sami Reindeer Herding Threatened by Rare Earth Mining in Sweden

The place where LKAB has found large amounts of rare earth metals is located exactly where Gabna sameby has its reindeer between summer and winter grazing. Now the sameby risks being cut in two. I see it as an experimental operation in how far the Swedish state can go in violating Sami rights, says Lars-Marcus Kuhmunen, chairman of Gabna sameby.
