Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino are being summoned to appear in court in April. They have been identified by French prosecutors as those most responsible for X, both practically and legally, during the time the alleged crimes were committed.
Yaccarino resigned as CEO in July 2025 after two years in the position.
The operation is part of an investigation that began a year ago, the prosecution wrote on X.
Europol is also participating by providing "cybercrime expertise and an analyst working with national authorities on site in Paris," it said in a press release.
