The country's strong GDP growth was driven primarily by strength in the finance, real estate, information technology and service sectors, CNBC reports.
The growth was higher than the 7.1 percent analysts had expected in a Reuters poll, and followed a 7.8 percent increase in the first quarter.
The Iran conflict has not affected India's growth as much as feared, says Aastha Gudwani, chief economist for India analysis at major bank Barclays.
