German chipmaker Infineon Technologies is seeing increased demand for data-center technology. "The very dynamic demand for AI is providing strong tailwinds in an otherwise subdued market situation," CEO Jochen Hanebeck said in a statement.

Infineon's revenue from the data center segment is expected to increase from 1.5 billion euros in the current fiscal year to 2.5 billion euros in the next fiscal year, according to the chipmaker.

During the first quarter of the current fiscal year, total revenue came to 3.66 billion euros, which was slightly more than the average forecast, according to Bloomberg.

Profitability was also better than expected, with an adjusted operating margin of 17.9 percent.
