According to SVT, the new Aurora Line, which has increased transmission capacity to Finland, may be a major reason for the sharp price increase for electricity price areas SE1 and SE2.
When electricity goes from one price area to another, the price follows. Electricity goes where the price is highest. In this case, it is Finland, and their prices determine the price in Norrbotten and SE1, says Jonas Lindström, an analyst at the Energy Market Inspectorate, to SVT.
Corrected: In an earlier version of the text, there was an incorrect figure for how much prices had increased.
