Competition from fixed bridge connections, an uncertain external environment and weak economic conditions are cited by the company as the main reasons.
Stena Line has operated the route since 2020 with a single ship, Stena Nautica.
"The Halmstad–Grenå line has been an important part of Stena Line's network and we have fought hard for some time, trying various measures to reverse the trend. However, without a sufficient customer base, these efforts have not been successful and we have now chosen to make this difficult and sad decision," the company says in a press release.
