Municipal veto could stop 50 alum shale mining permits

If municipalities are allowed to say no to mining in alum shale, 50 granted exploration permits would effectively be lost. In many cases, the permits concern the so-called rare earth metals. These are relatively large permits, says mining manager Helena Kjellson.
