Wall Street’s tech giants fell across the board on Thursday, with Google owner Alphabet perhaps the biggest loser, its shares dropping 12.6 percent.
Several tech companies in Asia are following suit. In South Korea, Samsung Electronics is down 5.2 percent, while SK Hynix has fallen by a hefty 7.3 percent. The Kospi, which has been relatively volatile in recent months, is down 4.7 percent at lunchtime.
Trading in Tokyo is also subdued. The Nikkei 225 is down 2.5 percent and the broader Topix is down 1.3 percent.
The Shanghai Stock Exchange is down 0.3 percent and Shenzhen is down 0.6 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is one of the exceptions today, rising 1.7 percent.
