On July 1, a customs fee of 3 euros was introduced for parcels shipped from outside the EU.

Starting Sunday, an additional 2-euro handling fee will be added to purchases from countries outside the EU. The fee applies per product category, not per individual product.

The Swedish Consumers Association welcomes the decision:

"Customs has a huge task when it comes to detecting and stopping suspiciously dangerous products ordered from sites outside the EU. Supervision simply needs to be given better conditions to do its job," says Maria Hammarling, an expert at Swedish Consumers, in a comment.
