Swedavia to invest 1 billion kronor in Arlanda discounts for airlines

Arlanda's role as an airport hub, particularly for domestic traffic, is to be strengthened. State-owned airport operator Swedavia calls the initiative the “biggest change of its kind.”

Swedavia is overhauling its airport fee system for 2027.

Airlines that offer frequent connections between Arlanda and smaller airports will receive discounts on take-off and passenger fees, Swedavia writes in a press release.

The airport company says this involves an investment of one billion kronor over the next five years.

CEO Mats Johannesson says the hope is that more travellers, and thus higher revenues, will compensate for the discounts.
