Protests Against Data Centers Take Place Across Europe, From Finland to France

A wide range of activist groups and other organizations are demonstrating against data centers across Europe on Saturday.

The demonstrations are being held under the common banner “Stop dirty data centers”.

Protests are taking place in several locations in Finland. In Helsinki, a march passed Google’s offices, with up to 1,500 participants, reports Yle.

Google is planning to build several large data centers in Finland, but suspicions of illegal logging have put a couple of the large-scale construction projects on hold.

In Denmark, protesters gathered outside Microsoft’s data center near Køge, on Zealand, reports Politiken.

The protests began last Friday, when up to 200 demonstrators were arrested in Amsterdam.

According to the organizer, demonstrations are taking place in several European countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain and France.
