President Putin wants a meeting. He has said it openly and we must get an end to the war. It's a bloody mess, said Trump, the US's incoming president, about the war between Russia and Ukraine on Thursday evening.
Trump, however, said nothing about when a meeting could take place.
The Russian power headquarters, the Kremlin, confirms on Friday that Putin is ready for an "unconditional" meeting, writes AFP.
The President has repeatedly stated that he is open to contact with international leaders, including the US President, including Donald Trump, says spokesperson Dmitrij Peskov.
The Kremlin welcomes "Trump's willingness to solve problems through dialogue", adds Peskov.
Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
