There will be no competitions in Czech Nove Mesto during the upcoming World Cup for cross-country skiers. The classic ski resort, which hosted the Biathlon World Championship in February this year, is struggling with economic problems and the planned competitions there are being cancelled.
In a statement, the International Ski Federation Fis writes that they are working on a plan to hold a competition on the dates when Nove Mesto was supposed to host the World Cup.
The World Cup starts on November 29 in Finnish Ruka. The Nove Mesto competitions would have taken place from January 31 to February 2 next year.
Corrected: In an earlier version, there was an incorrect time specification for when the Biathlon World Championship in Nove Mesto took place.
