It was during a training session before the World Cup event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen that the accident occurred. Nova was immediately airlifted to hospital by helicopter, where it was established that she had suffered a severe traumatic brain injury with bleeding, a cervical artery injury, and a fracture in the eye socket.
As a result, she was placed in a coma – but two weeks later, the doctors began to slowly but surely wake her up.
She is now in a stable condition and can be transported back home to the Czech Republic.
"We have a long way to go, but I'm convinced that we'll make it", says Nova's partner and national team coach Ondrej Berndt.
