The French alpine star Nils Alphand crashed during downhill training ahead of Saturday's World Cup competition in Swiss Crans Montana and was taken to hospital by helicopter. "Nils will be kept under observation", says the French Ski Federation.

Crashed in Germany – in artificial coma

Czech alpine skier Tereza Nova crashed during Friday's downhill training in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and was placed in an artificial coma, the Czech Ski Association reports. "She underwent an operation to reduce swelling in the brain and will remain in an artificial coma for as long as necessary", the association writes in a statement.
