Czech alpine skier Tereza Nova crashed during Friday's downhill training in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and was placed in an artificial coma, the Czech Ski Association reports.
"She underwent an operation to reduce swelling in the brain and will remain in an artificial coma for as long as necessary", the association writes in a statement.
The 26-year-old Nova's injury is one of several that have recently shaken the alpine World Cup.
Nina Ortlieb, Austria, broke her foot in the downhill race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and in the men's competitions in Kitzbühel, the Frenchmen Alexis Pinturault and Florian Loriot, as well as Italy's Dominik Paris, crashed.
