Värnamo Triumphs Over Degerfors in Intense 3-2 Match

Table bottom IFK Värnamo has not given up hope. Degerfors was defeated with 3–2 after a late decision by Marcus Antonsson. It is pathetic. Catastrophically bad, says an irritated Daniel Sundgren in Degerfors to Max.

The home team Värnamo started the brightest. Just minutes into the match, Johan Rapp was pulled down in Degerfors' penalty area and the referee pointed to the spot. The penalty was taken by Ajdin Zeljkovic and he safely scored 1–0.

Degerfors did not give up, however. After a set piece, the team maintained pressure in Värnamo's penalty area and eventually Sebastian Ohlsson was able to equalize. 1–1 stood until the end of the half.

"Now we're in it"

When the second half got underway, Värnamo brought in Marcus Antonsson. It would have an effect.

After a fluctuating half with goals at both ends, Antonsson stepped forward in the role of match winner and scored 3–2 in the 77th minute.

Good touch with some flow and then I place it in. Great, says Antonsson to Max after the match and continues:

Hope is alive. If we had lost today, it would have been incredibly tough. Now we're in it.

"Catastrophic"

In the Degerfors camp, the tone was different after the loss, where Daniel Sundgren was furious.

They get an unnecessary penalty, again. We don't mention any names here. When it happens time and time again, you start to wonder if it's right, he says and continues:

I'm just disappointed. It's better that I don't say anything. It will only come out as nonsense from me.

The veteran also comments on the team's tough upcoming schedule.

That's exactly why this match was so damn important. You usually say six-point match, this was a nine-point match. Yet it looks like it does. It's pathetic. It's just catastrophically bad.

Värnamo, with the win, closes in on Degerfors in the table. There are now only three points between the teams.
