Alexander Isak was nominated for the award as "player of the year" when the Premier League players' association PFA had its annual gala on Tuesday.

But the Swedish attacking star did not show up.

Instead, he spoke out on Instagram.

"I have been silent for a long time while others have talked. The silence has allowed people to bring forward their versions of what has happened, even if it does not reflect what was actually said and agreed upon behind closed doors", writes Isak.

Alexander Isak has not trained and played with Newcastle after the summer break and wants to leave the club. Liverpool is said to have made a bid for the blue and yellow star, but Newcastle has not wanted to sell.

"A change is in everyone's interest, not just mine", writes Isak.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah received the award "player of the year" at the PFA gala, where Alexander Isak was voted as one of eleven players in the "team of the year".
