In July, the Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr was arrested in the USA for having stayed in the country after his tourist visa had expired. Now he has been deported to Mexico, where he was arrested immediately.

In his home country, the 39-year-old is suspected of crimes linked to a drug cartel. He has now been taken to a prison in Mexico.

César Chávez Jr was the holder of the World Boxing Council title in middleweight 2011–2012, and is the son of the former three-time world champion in boxing Julio César Chávez.

Earlier this year, César Chávez Jr boxed against the influencer and boxer Jake Paul, a match the latter won.
