”I have always looked forward to making an impact in Hammarby. It has felt like that one beautiful day, I will get this chance. Now it's here and it means a lot to me”, says Vasic in a statement on Hammarby's website.
The 33-year-old won the Allsvenskan top scorer league last season with his 17 goals, but tore his cruciate ligament in the season's last match. He extended his contract with BP during the winter, but is now leaving.
”We are fully aware that he will need a few weeks before he is back in full, but his qualities as a player in combination with his personality and leadership qualities will bring enormous value to the group”, says Hammarby's sports manager Mikael Hjelmberg.
Earlier in the day, it became clear that Vasic is breaking his contract with BP.
”Nikola Vasic has chosen to break his agreement with BP. We wish him good luck and hope to soon see him back on the pitch”, the club wrote briefly.
The contract with Hammarby is written for 1.5 years.
