The Swedish cross-country national team is filling up its leadership staff. From the ski gymnasium in Ulricehamn, Marcus Wadell is recruited, who strengthens the A-national team behind the regular trainer trio Ida Ingemarsdotter, Johan Granath and Stefan Thomson.
Wadell, who at the same time continues his work at the gymnasium, is taken in ”to strengthen and take over parts of Granath's and Ingemarsdotter's responsibility during the coming year". His main focus will be on the Scandinavian Cup and the junior national team.
On the junior side, former cross-country skiing star Fredrik Lindström also steps in as a new doctor. ”Biffen” Lindström drove, among other things, the last leg when Sweden's men took a sensational relay gold at the Olympic Games 2018, and has after his career taken a medical degree.
”He has an exciting background as a successful elite athlete, and in combination with a medical degree becomes an important resource for our juniors”, says Sweden's national team manager Anders Byström in a statement.
