The office will close on March 1, 2027. Today, approximately 450 people work in Stockholm.
Most of them will be offered employment in Gothenburg instead, Volvo Cars press manager Magnus Holst tells TT.

No remote work
You will not be able to accept an offer and continue to work remotely in the capital.
No, it's about moving to Gothenburg, that's it.
The Stockholm office was established to gain "access to important expertise and strengthen important capabilities," the company writes.
"Since then, the office has played an important role in building expertise in areas such as software development, artificial intelligence and digital customer experiences. The office has fulfilled an important function and the competencies built up there continue to be significant for the company," Volvo Cars writes in the press release.
The transition will be implemented gradually until the office closes in March next year.
"We work together with unions. There are procedures for things like this and we keep employees informed throughout the process that is currently underway," says Holst.
"Unilateral decision"
Kristina Tullgren from the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers and chair of the Volvo Cars section of the Swedish Association of Academics describes the decision as "unilateral".
"This is a very tough message for our members in Stockholm. Many are in the middle of life with family, children, housing and social networks. It is therefore completely understandable that many are now faced with a difficult decision whether they want and have the opportunity to move to Gothenburg to continue their employment," she says in a statement.
The Academic Association has just over 120 members in Stockholm and a total of 3,600 at Volvo Cars.
"Negotiations with the company will now continue. Our focus is to ensure that our members receive clear information and the support they need in the situation that has arisen," says Tullgren.
