Five people have been confirmed dead after the explosion at a fuel depot near Florence in Italy on Monday, announced Calenzano's deputy mayor Martina Banchelli.
At the same time, hundreds of people are protesting outside the fuel depot and trade unions are calling for a strike due to concerns about safety.
The fire was limited to a loading area and did not spread to nearby fuel tanks, according to the energy company Eni. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
