The US government is stopping the annual payment of approximately 40 million kronor to the anti-doping organization Wada, which corresponds to around 6 percent of Wada's budget.

The reason is that the US is dissatisfied with how Wada has handled suspected doping cases, for example with the 23 Chinese swimmers who were not banned during the investigation.

The US and Wada have been at odds with each other for six years regarding different doping cases and assessments of these.

The International Olympic Committee pays half of Wada's costs. The remaining costs are covered by the governments of 180 nations. Sweden also contributes.
