Speedway veteran Fredrik Lindgren, 39 years, came second in Riga's World Championship event.

The Swede started poorly, with a third place in his first heat. Then it became a crash in the second heat for Lindgren. But after a long rain break, it was a different Lindgren who came out to his three remaining heats. Three starts, three wins. Lindgren then reached the final by again being first to the finish line in his semi-final. Well in the final, Lindgren, from the inside grid, could not keep up with the Australian Brady Kurtz. The 28-year-old is, with the win, just three points behind the total leader Bartosz Zmarzlik, Poland.

Fredrik Lindgren is third in the total.

Two events remain.
