Prior to the home game against Gais, Värnamo had a sick warm-up, literally.
Half of the team missed training during the week due to fever and the club wanted to postpone Saturday's meeting against Gais, something that Gais said no to.
However, when the game was blown up, no major disease symptoms were noticed in the Värnamo players. Already in the second minute, Marcus Antonsson kept himself forward on a return and scored 1–0.
The reply from Gais came immediately. Kevin Holmén tested a finish from a distance that was directed via a defender to 1–1.
1–1 lasted until the pause and also a bit into the second half. Then the game sprang to life.
Substitute Otro Liimatta beautifully scored 2–1 for Värnamo with a quarter left to play and seemed to become the match hero.
That was stopped by another substitute. 36-year-old Jonas Lindberg only had time to be on the pitch for three minutes before he scored the equalizer to 2–2 for his Gais, which also became the final result.
For Värnamo's part, the team missed another opportunity to increase the points harvest. Gais is parked in fifth place.
