She was arrested in connection with an incident at Seattle-Tacoma Airport in the USA.
According to the police report, the airport's CCTV footage showed Richardson pushing her boyfriend Christian Coleman into a wall and also throwing objects at him.
She was released after just over a day in custody and the boyfriend has stated that he does not want to participate in the investigation.
Richardson is the reigning World Champion on 100 meters and took silver on the distance at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, she was not allowed to participate due to a positive marijuana test.
The American athletics federation USATF says in a comment that they do not want to comment on the incident, but that the federation is aware of the matter.
