UN experts accuse Israel of a "targeted starvation campaign" that has led to the deaths of children in Gaza.
34 Palestinians have died of malnutrition since October 7, the majority of them being children, states a group of experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council.
"Israel's intentional and targeted starvation campaign against the Palestinian people is a form of genocide and has resulted in famine throughout Gaza", the experts say in a statement.
They mention three children who recently died of malnutrition as examples of how the famine has spread from northern Gaza, where several children starved to death earlier this year, to the central and southern parts of the strip.
Six-month-old Fayez Ataya and 13-year-old Abdulwader al-Serhi died on May 30 and June 1 at al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza.
On June 3, nine-year-old Ahmad Abu Reida died in the tent in the city of Khan Yunis, further south, where he had sought shelter with his displaced family, according to the council.
The world should have intervened earlier to prevent the deaths, according to the experts.
