It was a technical fault in Geab's facility in Ygne that caused the power outage, reports P4 Gotland.

When the fault occurred, the protection system was triggered and the power went out, says Kalle Blomberg, CEO of Geab, to the radio.

Saturday's power outage caused disruptions in the water supply, and Region Gotland urged residents to be "very frugal" with drinking water.

At nine o'clock on Sunday morning, the region announced that the water supply is again in full operation.
