The incident occurred at 16.30 on Saturday in central Stockholm. Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a driver. In the evening, the police announced that one person, a woman in her 40s, had died.
According to the police, nothing indicates that the collision was intentional.
I have no information indicating that it is a case of illness, but it will be investigated how it happened, says the police's press spokesperson Per Fahlström.
The now detained driver is suspected of causing another person's death, gross negligence causing bodily harm and gross negligence in traffic.
The car has been seized for examination.
