Tovek moves home – ends elite endeavor

The national team rider Evelina Tovek is ending her elite career for a civilian career. "I have had seven incredible years abroad and in international top sports. The time feels right now to take the next step in life and start working within the family business that my dad has built up", she says.

Tovek has had her operations in Henrik von Eckermann's and Janika Sprunger's stable in the Netherlands in recent years.

Now she's moving home.

Evelina Tovek has been part of the A-national team in show jumping since 2017. Among the greatest achievements are the victory in the Nations Cup in Aachen five years ago.

On Dalila de la Pomme, she achieved several fine placings. She has also won a GCT competition in Rome and reached the podium in five-star GP show jumping.

Ahead lies a job within the family business.

"It has been an incredibly difficult decision, since the sport has been my entire life for so many years. But it will be very exciting to develop within the company that my dad founded 30 years ago", says Evelina Tovek to the Equestrian Federation's website.

She keeps the top horse Azaria Dinero, but with world number one Henrik von Eckermann in the saddle.

"It will be so much fun to follow them together. It's really his type of horse and I think they will fit very well together", she says.

Henrik von Eckermann:

"I'm very grateful to take over such a fine horse. Azaria will be a strength in my team and it means a lot that even though Evelina herself takes a step back, I and equestrian sports still have the support of Toveks."
