On Monday evening, the Danish football supporters had to get off the train at the station in Hyllie – the first stop on Swedish soil – to be taken care of by the police.
We received information that there were x number of football supporters on their way from Denmark to Sweden to carry out some kind of disturbance, says the police's press spokesperson Filip Annas to TT.
Received in Copenhagen
The border police carried out a check of the 29 people.
During this check, they found, among other things, things that could be used as disguise, says Filip Annas and continues:
These people were formally taken into custody. This means that they had to get on the train back to Denmark and it is to prevent a possible more serious disturbance.
At the central station in Copenhagen, the Danish police received the supporters, reports the news agency Ritzau.
On Tuesday, Malmö FF and FC Copenhagen meet in the qualifying match for the Champions League – an event that the police in both countries see as a high-risk match.
Ahead of penalty zone
The return match is played in Copenhagen on August 12 and ahead of that match, the Danish police have decided to establish a so-called penalty zone in an area around the Parken arena. This means that the penalties for certain crimes committed in the zone will be doubled.
We hope and believe that a stricter penalty zone in the area, together with our visible efforts, will help to prevent unrest, said chief police inspector Peter Dahl, according to Ritzau, last week.
