Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is once again withdrawing from an ATP tournament. This means that the 24-time Grand Slam winner will not have played a match on hardcourt before the upcoming US Open.

The 38-year-old Serb has not played a match since he was eliminated in the semifinal against world number one Jannik Sinner in the Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon on grass in London on July 11. The elimination came after a "frightening fall" in the quarterfinal.

After Wimbledon, Djokovic declined to participate in the major tournament in Toronto due to injury sensation in a groin and now the organizer in Cincinnati, USA, receives the same message from the Serb.

The singles tournament in US Open starts on August 24 and is decided on the hardcourt surface.

Djokovic has won four titles at Flushing Meadows in New York. The most recent one came in 2023 and it is also his most recent Grand Slam victory.
