Degerfors Suffers Early Red Card in Loss to IFK Göteborg

Degerfors were on the hunt for their first win in eight matches. Instead, it was yet another allsvenskan bottom clash against IFK Göteborg after Mamadouba Diaby was sent off after just four minutes. Clearly it's a nightmare, says defender Daniel Sundgren to Max.

On June 19, Degerfors head coach William Lundin was fired. Since then, the Värmlanders have only taken one point.

Against IFK Göteborg, the direction of the form curve did not change.

Diaby received his first yellow card after just one minute after unfairly stopping a dangerous counterattack. Three minutes later, the second one came after a tough tackle on Tobias Heintz.

It's clear it's a nightmare. We know they are strong the first 15 minutes, so when we get a red card after five, it becomes twice as tough, says Sundgren.

When the match went to halftime, the score was 2–0 to the home team. By then, it already felt hopeless for the guests.

0–1 you can at least fight back from. Of course, I haven't given up, but the uphill climb is very, very, very steep, continued the defender.

The blue and white winning numbers were finally written to 3–0. Now that the 18th round is completed, Degerfors is found for the first time this season in a relegation spot. The team is the second to last.
