Ingebrigtsen Criticizes Norwegian Athletics Association as "Childish"

Gjert Ingebrigtsen was acquitted on all points regarding assault of his son – athletics star Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Despite this, the athletics coach means that there is a board decision from the Norwegian association to ignore him. Childish, he says to Norwegian TV2.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen was acquitted of assault against Jakob Ingebrigtsen but was convicted of "kroppskrenkelse" – a less serious crime in legal terms – against his daughter to 15 days of conditional imprisonment and 10,000 kronor in fines.

Now he says that he feels disadvantaged by the Norwegian association.

I do not talk to them. Or rather: the association does not talk to me. They have a board decision that they should not talk to me. It is damn well done, he says sarcastically and continues:

That someone should decide that someone is not allowed to talk to me. It's just stupid. It's damn childish. Poor leadership and poor board, extremely poor.

The chairman of the Norwegian Athletics Association, Runa Bålsrud, is not aware that such a decision exists.

It is unknown to me that there is any board decision or similar not to talk to Gjert. I have talked to Gjert on the phone now in June, and I have texted with him. There is at least no board decision that I am aware of, and which I would have violated.

The World Championship in athletics will be held on September 13-21 in Tokyo.
