The Ski World Championship in Trondheim was shaken by a scandal when it emerged that several Norwegian ski jumpers had competed with manipulated suits. One of them was the Olympic gold medalist Marius Lindvik.
A covert film revealed the Norwegian cheating – where it was seen how the head coach Magnus Brevig sat and watched while the suits were being sewn.
After the incident, Lindvik has been sparse with comments about what happened, but the 27-year-old has always claimed that he was not aware of the cheating.
It's just crap. It takes a lot of energy. Every time it comes up, it sucks all the energy out of me, says Lindvik to TV2 and continues:
It has been tough. Now it has recovered a bit, but I'm not so fond of talking about things that steal energy. I'd rather think positively.
Lindvik looks back to that winter evening in Trondheim. When the Norwegian was to receive the silver medal, he stood waiting for a long time for the medal ceremony.
It was terrible. I'm standing there and don't understand what's happening. We notice that things are taking longer than they should. In the end, we go into the locker room and get more information.
There is still an ongoing investigation at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (Fis) about the scandal, but when the results of the investigation will be presented is not yet clear.
