Portuguese Football Legend Jorge Costa Dies at 53

The former Portuguese international Jorge Costa is dead. This after he was affected by a heart stop, announces football club Porto.

According to the newspaper Record, Costa had a heart stop on Porto's training facility. He was taken urgently to hospital by ambulance but his life could not be saved.

Costa worked as general manager in Porto – for whom he made over 250 matches and won the Champions League in 2004.

Throughout his life, both on and off the pitch, Jorge Costa embodied the values that define FC Porto: commitment, leadership, passion and an unwavering performance spirit. He touched generations of fans and became an important symbol for Porto”, the club writes on its website.

Costa also played 50 international matches for Portugal between 1995–2002.

On Instagram, the former Porto captain is being praised by Portugal's greatest of all time – Cristiano Ronaldo.
