The Club Stops Using X in Protest Against Musk

The German football club St Pauli is taking a stand against the platform X. The reason for the decision is that the club believes the app has become a "hate machine" since Elon Musk took over it.

The club has had the account since 2013 and has 250,000 followers.

"Racism and conspiracy theories are allowed to spread uncontrolled. Insults and threats are not removed and are sold as freedom of speech", the club writes in a statement on its website as a reason for stopping the use of X.

The club also writes that they expect the app to be used to promote extremist right-wing politics during the upcoming German election, something they do not support.

The club writes that they previously tried to use the platform to promote diversity and inclusion in an attempt to resist hate. Now, the club will stop posting, but will let the existing posts on the account remain.

St Pauli instead urges followers to switch to the BlueSky platform, and announces that the club will post updates there from now on.

Musk supported the USA's incoming president Donald Trump during the election campaign. The other day, it became clear that Trump lets Musk, the world's richest man, lead a new department that will streamline the government apparatus.
