Carmen Cernhjul performed in the women's 1,500 meters at the European Championship U20. The Swede took silver with a time of 4.15,00.
I'm so, so happy with a silver today, super happy, says Cernhjul in SVT's broadcast.
The winner was Lyla Bershaws, Great Britain, with a time of 4.14,59.
Cernhjul led for a long time but Bershaws was stronger on the final stretch.
A really good race. I think I set it up very well tactically so I'm actually just following the plan, says Cernhjul.
Last year, the Swede took bronze in the 800 meters at the U18-European Championship.
It means a lot, a lot that this time I also have my family in place. It means so, so much and to go in and take a medal today. It's not as easy as it may seem sometimes so I'm super happy that I manage to do it and that I do the race I do. I'm so happy, says Cernhjul.
Sweden's other medal at the U20-European Championship, a silver, was taken by Karl Ottfalk on 5,000 meters on Friday.
