A man in his 60s in Gävle has been convicted of attempted murder after stabbing his wife with a kitchen knife in bed.
The incident occurred in the middle of the night in April, when the man suddenly began stabbing the woman in the chest and back, and took a stranglehold on her.
The stab wounds caused, among other things, the lungs to collapse, writes Gefle Dagblad. According to police interrogation, the man wanted to kill the woman and then himself, but the woman survived the injuries.
The man was convicted on Thursday for attempted murder to forensic psychiatric care with special release assessment, since he is deemed to have committed the act under the influence of a serious mental disorder.
