Flens municipality warns of suspected fraud attempts in Sörmland, where people who claim to be chimney sweeps call on people and claim that the property needs to be swept or chimneys repaired, reports SVT News Sörmland.
The municipality has recently received several calls about fake chimney sweeps who contact people by phone, or ring the doorbell at people's homes. The scammers are said to have been persistent and offered the alleged services at a cost. So far this summer, however, they do not seem to have managed to deceive anyone.
Tommy Sjöberg, a chimney sweep in Flens municipality, tells SVT that chimney sweeps in reality "never drive around and knock on doors", but send messages via post or email that they will visit a certain address.
